30 Days of Books: Day 6 – A book that makes you cry

 Read: Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls
Stars: Five

Drinking: Pomegranate Raspberry Green Tea, Stash

Books rarely move me to cry – movies, yes, but not books.  Where the Red Fern Grows is an exception. I always bawl when I read it.  I actually avoid reading it, despite it being a fantastic book, for this very reason.

Rawls lays out a heartwarming story of a boy and his hunting dogs and their adventures.  Billy hopes to train his loving pups to be the best hunting team in the valley where they live.  Along the way, they have adventures – my favorite involves Billy’s trip to town.  Despite the fun, though, this book has tissue alert level of HIGH.  Only read it if you are prepared to sob for hours. var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push([‘_setAccount’, ‘UA-26693790-1’]); _gaq.push([‘_trackPageview’]); (function() { var ga = document.createElement(‘script’); ga.type = ‘text/javascript’; ga.async = true; ga.src = (‘https:’ == document.location.protocol ? ‘https://ssl’ : ‘http://www’) + ‘.google-analytics.com/ga.js’; var s = document.getElementsByTagName(‘script’)[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })();
